WELCOME TO WINBATCH!
This disk contains the WinBatch Interpreter version 5.0Q
This version is compiled for Windows 3.1 and Windows for
Workgroups running 16-bit versions of Windows.
32-bit versions of WinBatch for Intel, Dec Alpha, and MIPS
processors running advanced operating systems are also
available.
This version of WinBatch supports Ole 2.0 Automation, Floating
Point operations, Binary File Editing operations, and contains
many many new functions. The WIL help file has a section on the
new functions.
WinBatch is the Windows Batch Language that you can use to write
real honest-to-goodness Windows batch files to control every
aspect of your machine's operation. There are more than 350
different functions that allow you to do *anything* with WinBatch!
SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
WinBatch requires an IBM PC or compatible with a minimum of 4
megabytes of RAM (You really should have at least 8), running
Microsoft Windows version 3.1 or higher.
*** LATE-BREAKING NEWS ***
WinBatch 5.0 is a major update from previous versions. We are
sending all registered users update notification letters. If you
are a registered user and did not receive an update letter by
Nov 1, 1994, then somehow we missed you. (Did you move?) Call
(800)-762-8383 and get it straightened out.
It is true that the product was released before mailing out the
update letters. The theory was to get some real-world testing
before updating thousands of users. In addition, we have been
dribbling out the update letters at about a hundred a day so that
our 800 number does not get totally jammed.
*** Quick Fixes from previous 5.0 versions ***
1) Fixed the Novell3 n3Attach function.
2) Fixed the Basic Network and the Multinet network drivers
so that they would accept lowercase disk drive names.
3) Fixed WinMacro so it could find its files. Previous
versions shipped with a bad copy of wnmac16i.exe
4) Fixed the WIL.HLP file so that it could be read on >all<
monitors. With some monitors some text was not visable.
*** Announcing the WinBatch Compiler ***
Also available is our "WinBatch Compiler". With the WinBatch
compiler, you can turn your WBT files into standalone EXE files
that you can distribute on a royalty-free basis.
Have a BIG network? Want all your users to run your WBT files?
Compile the WBT files with the WinBatch Compiler and put the
EXE's up on the server.
Making specialized WinBatch files for clients? Don't want them
modifying your files? Just compile the WBT files, and give the
EXE's to your client.
Are you the "corporate guru"? Get a compiler. Compile those WBT
files and hand them out like candy.
The WinBatch Compiler, a separate product from the WinBatch
Interpreter contained in these files, is available for $395.00,
plus shipping, if applicable. The WinBatch Compiler includes a
copy of WinBatch. In addition, if you buy a copy of Winbatch, you
have 90 days to upgrade to the Compiler and just pay the difference
in price.
HOW TO INSTALL WINBATCH
>>>AUTOMAGIC INSTALL
Use our WSETUP.EXE program, which will copy the files for you
and install a WINBATCH group in the program manager with various
sample files. To use our WSETUP.EXE program...
(Manual install instructions may be found below)
1) Close down all extraneous Windows applications.
2) Double-Click on the WSETUP.EXE program
3) When the setup program asks for a directory, specify initial
directory, or accept the given default (C:\WINBATCH).
NOTE: If you are updating from a previous version, and made any of the
WinBatch files READ-ONLY, remove the read-only attribute from
the files before running setup.
(Or else the setup process will hang)
WinBatch can run in English, French, German, and "Val Speak".
The strings are controlled by the WWWDLANG.* files. Run the
WILLANG.WBT file to change languages.
An order form may be found in the WinBatch help file.
Once you are viewing the order form, you can then select
the Print button to obtain a hard copy.
Please see the README2.TXT file for more information.
